Synopsis[]

Nanoids designed to repair living tissue escape from a Global Dynamics lab and threaten to overrun Eureka.

Plot[]

Lo-Jack, a dog with an IQ of 130, has been hit by a car, so Jack and Jo take him to Taggart's lab in section 4 for treatment. Despite Taggart's feelings about the animal, he proposes to use nanoids, which are little machines than can act like living tissue. Meanwhile, what starts out as a boost to Fargo's status, the invention of an electronic device that links the cerebral cortex to a computer, turns into a disaster in the making. Stark is fitted with the prototype device that connects his thoughts with his computer. A lab technician tells Stark that there's a problem with their system that he needs to solve. He gets to work on it, but when Taggart's nanobots escape from their jar, they find their way into the vents and attacks the technician.

Later, Allison serves Stark with divorce papers and calls Jack about Larry's disappearance. Jack stalls on going into the tunnel in time for Taggart to show up with some of his new toys. The two climb into the vents and hear something "insectoid" crawling around. They come back out, and Stark berates them for going into the mainframe vents without following protocol. They eventually leave, and Larry reappears behind Stark with the nanobugs in his eyes. The bugs use Stark to deactivate the EM barrier and breakdown an IT technician for carbon fuel. Global Dynamics is locked down by Allison and Jack and Taggart take another look for the nanobugs. Nanoids start spreading across Global Dynamics, creating clones of all sorts of things: Lo-Jack, some of the employees and, especially, Nathan Stark. They find the phony Lo-Jack and destroy it, as well as one of the fake Starks, however they fail to stop the multiple Stark clones from escaping the perimeter.

While the multiple Starks march on Eureka, Taggart and Jack search for Stark in the tunnels. Because the nanobugs can multiply so quickly, they need to figure out the connection between Stark and the robots. They find him and Carter realizes that they are connected to Fargo's device, and therefore to Stark's subconscious, as well as his (reluctantly acknowledged) dreams of world domination. They bring Stark to where the annual dance is being held so that they have a central point to divert the clones. Because Stark is so focused, Jack is forced to distract him by dancing with Allison in front of him. He kisses her and the nanoids converge on Jack and Allison, yanking them apart. When all of the clones get into the main room, but a blast from Spencer's special speakers subdue the nanoids and disintegrates all of the copies.

Memorable Quotes[]

Taggart: For a dog with a 130 IQ, you should know to watch out for cars.
Larry: Just pray it's not the Lorena Bobbitt virus.
Stark: I'm sorry?
Larry: Turns your hard drive into a three and a half-inch floppy.
Fargo: (while Stark is testing his invention) Why are you trying to access my file?
Stark: To see if you're remotely qualified to be tapping into my cerebral cortex.
Carter: It's well documented Allison. A siesta works. It increases worker satisfaction and productivity and it is a dying art.
Allison: Napping is not an art.
Carter: Well, you haven't seen me nap, I take it to a whole new level.
Fargo: (while Stark is testing his invention) Why are you trying to access my file?
Stark: To see if you're remotely qualified to be tapping into my cerebral cortex.
Carter: Yeah, that's what I thought.
Allison: What?
Carter: It's really creepy in there.
Allison: That's some really sharp police work Carter.
