"Noche de Suenos" is the sixth episode of the second season of Eureka.

Synopsis[]

An epidemic of shared dreaming in Eureka seems amusing if somewhat embarrassing, until it's discovered that the cause will ultimately prove lethal for everyone in town.

Plot[]

Dreams all across town are no longer private. People find themselves, without wishing it, drawn into the nighttime tales of others. They discover that Stark and Allison were trying to be in Kevin's dream (Kevin now has a special connection to the Artifact), but it interferes with a neurologist's neural network of 50 people, who the dreams originate from, and when the dreams occur, Acetylcholine builds up in the spinal cord. Three people fall unconscious because of it, and Carter and Jo are part of the neural network.

They discover that a woman is running sleep running blind test on employees with an E3 grade pay because they have a regular sleep schedule. Combined with Stark's dream-reading device it is causing the shared dreams. The build up of Acetylcholine is because all of their sleep patterns have been off due to the shared dreams. They figure out a way to clear the buildup of the Acetylcholine by putting Carter into a tank with a special gel. It clears the chemical out of their bodies. Nathan comments that it's good because it means they can keep researching with Kevin. Allison tells the tech to get everyone with the Acetylcholine into the tank for the treatment.

Allison later states to Stark that she doesn't want to do the dream tests on Kevin anymore. Nathan, finally listening to her, turns it off.

Memorable Quotes[]

  • Henry: Yes, that one of your birthmark is particularly haunting.

  • SARAH: Sometimes I think she says these things just to hurt me.
  • Carter: No I say things just to hurt you.

  • Fargo: (whining off screen) Nurse, more pillows!
  • Nurse: (To Carter about Fargo) But that boy may die.

  • Carter: Joesefina Ballerina.
  • Jo: I will taser you.

  • Henry: Well, they're the sources of the dreams. I mean, that's why their acetylcholine levels are so high.
  • Carter: Okay, so what do we know about these 50 people?
  • Fargo: Oh, but my name isn't on there.
  • Stark: That's a good thing, Fargo.
  • Fargo: I know, because it means I wasn't the one who had the man in black dream.
  • Stark: Well, it sure as hell wasn't me.
  • Jo: (horrified) Oh, God.

  • Dr.: It's in everyone's contract that they may be randomly selected for double-blind case studies from time to time.
  • Carter: (to Allison with shock) Is it?
  • Allison: I told you to read your contract carefully before you signed it!

Notes[]

  • As well as Suenos being the scientist's name, the title in Spanish means "Night of Dreams".
